Save The Hoops

Who we are

The Eversdens have always been resilient, but over the past 20 years we’ve quietly lost some of the everyday essentials that hold a rural community together — first our bus service, then our shop, and now our last remaining pub is at risk. The Hoops is more than a building; it is one of the final shared spaces where people of all ages can meet, connect, and feel part of village life.

A volunteer steering group of local residents has come together to protect this vital asset. We bring experience across business, hospitality, finance, property, community organising, and project management, united by a shared belief that The Hoops should remain at the heart of village life.

CBS / Governance

We are establishing a Community Benefit Society (CBS) — a regulated, democratic, not‑for‑profit structure with:

  • One member, one vote, regardless of investment size

  • An asset lock, ensuring the pub can never be sold for private gain

  • Capped dividends, keeping the focus on community benefit

  • A long‑term commitment to reinvesting profits into the building and the wider community

This model is proven across more than 150 successful community‑owned pubs in the UK.

PLEDGE NOW TO SAVE THE HOOPS

The Hoops can be a thriving, multi-use community hub, but only if we act now.
